A project of Indian Railways Catering Ticketing Corporation, the train is the most expensive of all the luxury trains India boasts of. The onboard facilities, including accommodation, restaurants, etc and the off-train tour packages of this luxury train are acclaimed world-wide. Total 27 rooms with different categories of rooms- Deluxe Cabins, Junior Suites, Suites and Presidential Suites have a combined passenger capacity of 88 guests. And the taste buds feel ultimate delight in the two restaurants, namely Rang Mahal and Mayur Mahal.

The train is known for the grandeur which is awarded various recognitions like Adjudged Best Luxury Train at CNBC Travel Awards 2010, 1st Runner Up in the Specialist Train Operators Category at Condenast Travellers Reader Choice Awards 2011 and World Leading Luxury Train at World Travel Award 2012.
