Jim Corbett National Park, endowed with beautiful nature, is a haunt for wildlife lovers for a long time. Established in the year 1936 as the first national park in Asia and the First Tiger Reserve of India, the park is a pioneer in efforts at preserving the endangered species of animals and birds. Natural uniqueness of the park consists of varied wildlife and spectacular scenery spread over the 1318.54sq km of area in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

The park is named after a legendary British hunter, author, naturalist, and a tracker-turned-conservationist ‘Jim Corbett, who was born in Nainital. Corbett’s writings have captivated generations of the wildlife aficionados.

There is an excellent variety of both the local and migratory species of birds found in Jim Corbett National Park. The migratory bird species that you can spot here are Brown Dipper, Forktails, Wallcreepers, White-Capped Water Redstarts, Gray-Headed Fish-Eagle, Plumbous and many species of Wagtails. These rare species of birds makes the park  an ideal destination for keen birdwatchers.

ITINERARY

Day 1   Delhi - Corbett National Park
In the morning drive to Corbett National Park by car. On arrival check into wild life resort outside the park. Later meet our birding expert and discuss about the trip. By Evening

Day 2  Corbett National Park
After breakfast, drive onward for Dhangarhi gate for entry to Dhikala tourism zone. Visit the Interpretation Centre. Jeep safari through the stately dense Sal jungle and the wildlife adventure of Corbett begins. Jeep Safari by the lower jungle track along the Ramganga River accompanied by an expert guide. A great opportunity for viewing wildlife, especially the tiger in its natural habitat. Cross the river at Gethia Rao Bridge for the Kanda Range, where Jim Corbett shot the famous Kanda man-eater. Arrive at the main tourist complex, Dhikala. Lunch and relax a bit in the serene, lingering quietness of the park and capture the panoramic expanse on your camera. Visit one of the best wildlife libraries of India. You will be given an elephant ride, if available otherwise an afternoon safari on a track along the periphery of the core area. An exciting drive through the unforgettable, sylvan beauty of the Khinanauli range offers wildlife viewing in plenty and a chance sighting of the elusive tiger. Return to the to tourist complex. Film show on wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay. Please note that the accommodation in Dhikala is not luxurious.
