situated at a height of 5029m in the lap of Trishuli massif. This area is usually called is the ‘mystery lake’, since human skeletons and remains of horses from the Paleolithic age were found here. The lake is surrounded by rock-strewn glacier and snow clad peaks. The starting point of the trek is Lohajang, easily approached by motor from Almora. Roopkund can also be reached by Ghat, connected by a motorable road with Nandprayag situated on the main highway of Badrinath. The trek of Roopkund passes through lush green grassy land and conifer forest clinging into the slopes of hills. The trek thereafter winds its way along the Pinder River. Then to round off this trek, one can approach Hemkund via Shila Samunder glacier and then move on Ghat. Bedni Bugyal and Bhagwawasa are the most beautiful places in this trek. You must found lots of “Bramhakamal” near Bhagwawasa. The best time of come here is last week of August to last week of October. You must have 8 days to trekking for Roopkund. It is a 40km trek from road head.
For many years, Roopkund has heel the attention of trekkers because of the bones and skeletons that can be seen in its waters. The mystery of the same has never been solved but the lake has attracted a number of people over the years. Trail (named after the Indian Viceroy, Lord Curzon, who undertook this trek during his stay in India). The main attraction of this trek is the majestic views of the peaks of Nanda Devi, Hathi-Ghodi, Kamet, Dronagiri, etc. During the trek one would pass through pristine forests of Oak, Rhododendron and Deodar. The beauty of the region is best described by the famous explorer Eric Shipton, who said, “A vision of such beauty is worth a world of striving.”
Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar
Drive from Delhi to Haridwar. Upon arrival at Haridwar check in to the hotel. In the evening one can visit the Har Ki Peri for the Aarti ceremony on holy river Ganges. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Haridwar – Mundoli
Arrival in Haridwar by 0535 hrs and from here drive to Mundoli (240 km/8-9 hrs). Overnight in tents.
Day 03: Mundoli – Wan – Bedni Bugyal (3350 mts/11000 ft)
Drive 10 kms to Wan, which is the roadhead for the trek. Today we will trek 11 km (5-6 hrs) to reach Bedni Bugyal, probably one of the best camping sites in the Garhwal Himalayas. Overnight in tents. |

Day 04: Bedni Bugyal
Rest day for acclimatization/Exploratory day. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Day 05: Bedni Bugyal – Bagubassa (4100 m/13450 ft)
In the morning trek to Bagubassa, its 10 kms upward trek to reach our next base and it will take near about 4-5 hrs. Up on arrival at Bagubassa set out a camp for dinner and overnight stay. |
Day 06: Bagubassa – Roopkund (4450 m/14600 ft)
– Bedni Bugyal
You trek 18 km today enjoying the Himalayan panorama, this will take about 7-8 hrs, moving at a leisurely pace. Overnight in tents.
Day 07: Bedni Bugyal – Wan (2436 m/8000 ft)
Retrace your steps towards Wan. This will take 3-4 hrs. Overnight in tents.
Day 08: Wan – Sutol (2200 m/7200 ft)
The trek today is for 14 km (5-6 hrs) through one of the finest mixed forests in the entire Garhwal Himalayas with a good chance of spotting the barking deer. Overnight in tents.

Day 09: Sutol – Ramni (2550 M / 8415 ft)
The trail follows the Nandakini Valley from village to village. A 16 km trek that would take about 7-8 hrs. Overnight in tents.
Day 10: Ramni – Hitoli camp site
Trek 9 kms (5-6 hrs) to reach Ramni. Overnight in a tents.
Day 11: Hitoli camp site – Pana (2450 m/8085 ft)
Today’s trek of 8 kms will take about 5-6 hrs. Overnight in tents.
Day 12: Pana – Dakhwani (3300 m/10890 ft)
Today’s hike of 14 kms is mostly through forests and will take us about 6-7 hrs. Overnight in tents.
Day 13: Dakhwani – Kuaripass (3640 m/11960 ft) – Chitrakantha (3310 m/10920 ft)
Today's trek of 14 kms will take us about 4-5 hrs. You will get to see some of the most popular Himalayan peaks while hiking today. Overnight in tents. |

Day 14: Chitrakantha – Auli (2800 m/9185 ft)
Post breakfast, trek to Auli. Overnight in a guesthouse.
Day 15: Auli – Haridwar – Delhi
Depart early in the morning for Haridwar (290 kms/8-9 hrs drive). Arrive at Haridwar in the evening. From here board the Shatabdi Express for Delhi at 1810 hrs. Arrival in Delhi by 2245 hrs.
