Though the formation of the Indian sub-continent is among the oldest in the world, the Himalaya mountains are among the youngest. A geologist can present conclusive proof that the Himalaya were once at the bottom of the ocean.

The Himalaya extend over 2500 km in east-west and between 250 to 425 km in north- south direction. The most extraordinary thing about Himalaya is the way they have been formed in three parallel ranges known as Great Himalaya, the Lesser or the Central Himalaya and the Outer or the Siwalik Himalayas. Commencing at Nanga Parbat in the north-west, these reanges pass through Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Garhwal, Kumaon, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh.
Bugyal (meadows) in the local language means "high altitude meadow". The road to Dayara Bugyal branches off near Bhatwari a place on Uttarkashi-Gangotri road about 28 km from Uttarkashi. Vehicles can go up to the village of Barsu from where one has to trek a distance of about 8 km to reach Dayara and other route is via village Raithal, 10 km from Bhatwari, from where one has to trek about 6 km to Dayara Bugyal. Situated at an elevation of about 3048 m, this vast meadow is second to none in natural beauty. During winter it provides excellent ski slopes over an area of 28 sq km. The panoramic view of the Himalayas from here is breathtaking. Presently accommodation is available at Bhatwari and some villager's huts may also be used by professional skiers.
Mundali
Mundali is situated in district Dehradun, 129 km from Dehradun via Chakrata. Mundali offers an unforgettable view of the snow capped Himalayas. The place has vast ski slopes on which professionals can enjoy skiing. As accommodation facility is only available at Forest Rest House, therefore one has to ensure accommodation through the Forest Department.
Other Areas
Besides Auli, numerous places in Garhwal and Kumaon are full of potential for skiing where an individual or a group can enjoy this winter sport on their own. In Garhwal, Kush Kalyan and Kedar Kantha in Distt. Uttarkashi; Panwali and Matya in Distt. Tehri Garhwal and Bedni Bugyal in Chamoli and Munsyari, Chiplakot Valley in Distt. Pithoragarh in Kumaon are well known potential skiing resorts where professionals can do skiing.

Dayara Bugyal
Bugyal in the local language means “High Altitude Meadow”. Dayara Bugyal is one of the most beautiful places in Uttrakhand. Situated at an elevation ranging from 10,000-12,000 ft. This vast meadow is second to none in natural beauty in Uttaranchal. During winter it provides excellent & one of the best ski slopes in India spread over an area of 28 sq kms.
The view of Himalayas from here is breathtaking. There is a small lake (Barnala Tal) in the area, and to camp by its side is a memorable event.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On arrival met at the airport and transfer to the hotel. O/N stay at Hotel.
Day 02: Delhi – Rishikesh
Morning after breakfast drive to Rishikesh. On arrival check in the hotel, rest of the day free at leisure. and overnight in the Hotel.
Day 03: Rishikesh – Uttarkashi
Morning after breakfast drive to Uttarkashi. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04: Uttarkashi – Barnala Tal
Morning after breakfast drive to Barsu, on arrival start trek up to Barnala Tal. 03 kms Trek from Barsu to Barnala Tal with packed Lunch. Camp at-Barnala Tal (6500’alt) Evening tea with snacks. Dinner & Overnight at Camp.
Day 05: Barnala Tal – Dayara
Morning after breakfast start trek Up to Dayara.. Trek – 8 kms to Dayara Lunch at Dayara Camp at Dayara (Altitude 9000’-10,000’) Evening tea with snacks. Dinner & Overnight at Camp.
Day 06: Dayara - Gidara – Dayara
Morning after breakfast return trek to Gidara. Trek to Gidara (12,000’-13,000’) Packed Lunch Trek back to Dayara (7 kms) Evening tea with snacks. Dinner & Overnight at Dayara Camp. |

Day 07: Dayara – Barsu - Uttarkashi
Morning after breakfast down trek to Barsu with packed lunch. On arrival at Barsu drive to Uttarkashi. Trek back to Barsu (11 kms) Packed Lunch back to Uttarkashi Evening tea with snacks. Night stay at Hotel.
Day 08: Uttarkashi – Haridwar
Morning after breakfast drive to Haridwar, on arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening visit Aarti Darshan at Har Ki Pauri. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Haridwar – Delhi
Departure Morning after breakfast drive to Delhi, on arrival transfer to the airport, time to catch flight for onward destination.
