Dodital Snow Trek
Garhwal and its peaks, temples, lakes, etc are full of colorful legends from different Hindu mythologies. Dodital Lake is one such place, associated with the Lord Ganesha, thus also referred to as Ganesha Lake. Being an altitude lake, it is automatically understood that the area around the water body must be surrounded by sceneries unlike found around the lakes of plains, more when it is surrounded by snow during winters. The easy-going characteristic of Dodital trekking only enhances the cadence of mountain beauty matching with the rhythm of the footsteps.
The journey gets started from Delhi, even though the trekking begins only from the Sangamchatti which is reached from Haridwar which takes to the next destination- Uttarkashi. After crossing few small villages in the scenic mountain exquisiteness, trekkers are reached to Manjhi which finally leads to Dodital. The lake trekking is accomplished here unless one plans to go Dwara Top and Agoda Village, 5 Km and 17 Km respectively up the trail from Dodital walking on the same snow path. The mountains and their glimpse in the lake is vista one would like to capture in his eyes forever.
In winter, Dodital Lake assumes apparently bijou elegance due to the surrounding snow. Some bridges, pine and oak foliage, grass huts, water points and not to forget, snow will a constant company on the trek.
