Chopta Chandrashila Family Adventure

Chopta Chandrashila Family Adventure

Family trekking is everything that is associated with trekking on a hilly terrain except for the word ‘hard’ or ‘tough’. This is why there is no restriction on age of the people joining this adventure; only the determination and average ability to cope up with thin air is required. This is true for Chopta Chandrashila trek as well, which flaunts an altitude of more than 12500 m.

The journey is considered milder than others even in winters, but it becomes more accommodating in the regular trekking seasons, which is in the months from April to November. The Himalayas are there, just as the other elements of trek- lakes, temple, beauty of the valleys and meadows. When Haridwar / Rishikesh along with Okhimath are left after Delhi for the adventure to begin, the anticipation of the excitement keeps the trekkers up.

Chopta Chandrashila family trekking tour consists of attractions like Deoriya Taal- a high altitude lake, which is a perfect camping site. Another one on the list is the valley of Chopta which is a flurry of green and some other vibrant colours in summers, as against to the winters when it is nothing except white. The Chopta Chandrashila family trek is incomplete without paying a visit to Tunganath Temple- the highest temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Following the route, the trekkers would reach Chandrashila Summit. It acts as base for the people who are here on peak climbing expedition.

Be a part of magical grip of bonds of relationships and Nature for 8 days, when they both come alive here.

ITINERARY

Day 1   Delhi - Haridwar - Ukhimath
In the morning board an AC train for Haridwar at 06:55 hrs. Arrival at Haridwar by 11:25 hrs and then transfer to Ukhimath via Rishikesh, Devprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda & Bhagirathi, from Devprayag the Holy river Ganges started), Rudraprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda & Mandakini River). Ukhimath (1370 mts/4500 ft) is on the other side of the Mandakini River Valley from Guptkashi a relatively short steep walk by foot, or a much longer way by road. Ukhimath is the winter seat of Kedarnath, as well as the winter home of the priest who presides over his worship. After the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, a movable image of Kedarnath is brought in procession to Ukhimath, where it resides until the Kedarnath temple reopens in late April or early May. This picture shows the outer gateway to the temple complex, which is not only brightly painted and decorated, but two full stories tall (the wall also serves as the back wall of buildings inside). The stones piled at lower left were for some sort of construction project, which was in full swing when I visited (since summer is the "slow" season ritually speaking, it made sense for the place to be torn up them. And the nearby buildings are clearly residential, since a young girl is visible at upper right.
