One of the lesser known and undisturbed trekking trail in Garhwal Himalaya of Uttarakhand state, Chenab Lake Trek calls those adventure enthusiasts who always love to make the records of walking in fresh and untouched nature trails. Passing through the unsurpassed views of scenic Chenab Lake and the surrounding Oak-Deodar forests and vast meadows this trek let you experience undisturbed camping experienced amidst unbound greenery. Accessible from Joshimath, Uttarakhand, this trek constitutes a part of Garhwal Range of Himalaya and stretches from an elevation of 2050 to 4000 m height. For its easy to gradual climb, the trek is considered to be suitable for even the beginners and a guided trip of 8 nights and 9 days is enough to introduce you with the best alluring elements of this trekking expedition.


The itinerary crafted by Peak Adventure Tour let you walk past the solitary and secluded village of Chai and further bring you close to the panoramic views of mighty mountain peaks of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and Dronagiri. Click as much as shots you want to when the peaks change their colours at different times of the day. Further your walk will be bestowed by the beauty of another scenic village, Thaing which exudes painstaking designed surrounding of lush greenery and gentle slopes. A few kilometres ahead you get to witness the play of varied species of flowers such as primulas, orchids, poppies to Brahma kamal, marigold, anemones and daisies in Dhar Kharak.

ITINERARY

Day 1   Delhi - Rishikesh (230km/6hrs approx)
In the morning drive to Rishikesh via Haridwar. Once you reach, check in to hotel. If you are interested, you can go witnessing the Aarti ceremony at Ganga Ghat. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2  Rishikesh - Joshimath (240km/ 8-9hrs)
Post breakfast drive to Joshimath via Devprayag. En-route visit the confluence of holy river Bhagirathi and Alaknanda at Dev Prayag. It is from here the sacred river Ganga starts its journey. By the evening arrive at Joshimath. Check in to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 3   Joshimath - Vishnu Prayag (10 kms by road) - Thaing Village (8 kms trek)
Drive to Vishnu Prayag and start trekking for Thaing Village. To enter the valley you will have to cross the bridge at Vishnuprayag. Overnight in the camp.

Day 4  Thaing Village - Dhar Kharak (6 kms trek)
Wake up early to start trekking to Dhar Kharak or Baidwa Kharak. Packed lunch will be taken to serve you on the way. You will walk through dense forests and couple of streams flowing down the enclosing mountains. Halt at Dhar Kharak. Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 5   Dhar Kharak - Chenab Meadow (4 kms)
Todays trekking starts from Dhar Kharak and ends at Chenab Meadow. There are around 500 species of flowers and several medicinal plants in this valley. From here you can head to Badrinath via Neelkanth Base Camp. Overnight stay in Camp.

Day 6  Chenab Valley
The day is free of any activities. So explore the region. Overnight in tent.

Day 7   Chenab Valley – Thaing Village
Once you are done with breakfast, trek down to Thaing Village. Overnight stay in tent.

Day 8  Thaing Village - Vishnu Prayag - Joshimath - Srinagar (160km/5-6 hours)
Wake up early and have your breakfast. Trek down to Vishnu Prayag and from there drive to Srinagar via Joshimath, Chamoli and Rudraprayag. Once you reach check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 9   Srinagar - Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi
Post breakfast drive to Delhi via Haridwar. By the evening you will reach Delhi. Tour and Service end.

Cost includes
• Accommodation: Hotel in Rishikesh, Joshimath and Srinagar, while on trek we will use alpine/Dome tent on twin sharing basis.
• Transport: AC Car from Delhi - Trek point and back (AC will not run after Rishikesh).
• Meals: In Rishikesh, Joshimath and Srinagar only breakfast will be served. While on trek all meal will be provided. Meal will be mix of Indian, Chinese and continental.
• Mules/Porters: For carrying camping equipment, ration and some amount of personal gear of the clients (one bag not weighing more than 13 kgs).
• Professional trekking guide would accompany the group from Haridwar
• Entry fee for the park
